Sources of Support
Saint Ignatius Loyola Academy relies on the generosity of individuals, families, organizations and foundations to keep the school running. Because the Academy is an all-scholarship school, we rely each year on our donors’ generosity to cover operating costs. Hence, every donation -- each dollar bill, personal check, gift of stock and online donation -- helps our boys of modest incomes beat the odds and continue on a college path. Ways to Give
Student Sponsorship Academic Year: Through participation in the Academy’s Student Sponsorship Program, a young man’s tuition is guaranteed for his entire middle school enrollment (6th, 7th and 8th grades). When a new student enters the 6th grade, he is matched with a donor to whom he will write three times a year. Sponsors are not required to have personal interaction with their students, and may even remain anonymous, but are invited to meet the young scholars, tour the school, observe classes and attend special events organized by the Academy. The cost of educating a young man for a three-year cycle is as follows: full sponsorship at $9,000 per year half sponsorship at $4,250 per year
Summer Program: Through participation in the Academy’s Summer Program, a young scholar who usually does not leave Baltimore too often is able to enjoy a full “summer experience”: camp at the Jesuit retreat center in southern Pennsylvania and several additional weeks of school to sharpen reading and writing skills. When an Academy student enters the 7th or 8th grade summer program, he is matched with a donor to whom he writes during June or July. The cost of educating a young man for the program is: full sponsorship at $2,000 per summer half sponsorship at $1,000 per summer
Annual Giving Gifts to the school’s Annual Fund are unrestricted and support the Academy’s operating needs, particularly those requiring additional financial assistance: academic programs, teacher salaries, building maintenance and extracurricular activities.

Stock Gifts Gifts of stock provide tax advantages. The Academy’s account is held at Brown Advisory; the contact person is Matt Barrett at (410) 537-5461. The account’s legal name is Saint Ignatius Loyola Academy Gift Account. The account number is 7451-3571. The DTC number is 141. The tax deduction is based on the average price of the stock on the date of its transfer to the Academy’s account. To assure proper gift credit, please inform the Academy’s Development Director, Rüdiger Ruckmann, at (410) 783-9279.
Endowment Gifts A gift to an endowment fund at the Academy will be invested permanently. Several individuals and families have contributed to named scholarship endowments. Recently, the Academy established an endowment for a permanent graduate support director to assist alumni with their transition into college preparatory schools, colleges and universities.
Planned Gifts An estate gift to the Academy is very personal and ensures the permanence of the school. A bequest, charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust are all ways to include the Academy in your estate plans.
