Scholarship Sponsor Luncheon Unites Students and Benefactors
Sponsor Pat Modell and Shawn Turner catch up on the Spring semester
The Academy’s annual Scholarship Sponsor Luncheon was again a huge success. Nearly all Academy students, their sponsors, trustees and special guests enjoyed a two-hour program on April 12th at Loyola Blakefield. Highlights included student presentations by Darius Jefferson, Charles Allen and Brandon Brown, a faculty reflection by James Fiore, and remarks by board member David Kinkopf, Academy President Rev. David Sauter, S.J. and the Provincial, Maryland Province Society of Jesus, Very Rev. Timothy Brown, S.J.
Inspiring words were also spoken by alumnus Glen Thomas Rideout, a member of the class of ‘99 who currently attends Vanderbilt University. An accomplished scholar and musician, Glen spoke about his first impressions of the Academy and his teachers. A few years away from the school have made him realize that the time, energy and intellect his teachers invested in students guaranteed that “every Ignatian leaves the Academy with a forward-thinking intellect that challenges norms and demands excellence.” Glen has been offered a full conducting fellowship at the University of Michigan. The Development Office thanks the many sponsors who support all students who pass through the Academy halls on their way to becoming Men for Others. The Sponsor Luncheon honors their partnership with the young scholars and the teachers whom Glen so generously praised. Darius Jefferson, class of '07
